Sewing Machine Guide
Hello Sweet Pals,
One of the questions we get asked most often is, ‘what sewing machine should I buy?’ So we wanted to share our most loved machines with you. You can use this guide to help you out if you’re looking for a sewing machine for a gift but are unsure where to start or if you just want an upgrade. We’ve been sewing on PFAFF sewing machines for years - all our workshops are taught on them and all our samples and garment dreams whipped up on them. So it seems only natural to let you in on our sewing machine secrets.
We’ll take you through a list of the highlights of the PFAFF sewing machines we sell. There are five in total and if you buy directly from us, you’ll receive a £50 Made My Wardrobe voucher to spend elsewhere on the site as a little thank you.
All purchases come with a free introductory lesson at the studio if you are local to Bristol.
Actually, this would be great for both beginners and practiced sewers alike. It features dials instead of a digital display and is just lovely to sew on.
Our favourite features:
It’s super easy to thread! It comes with an integrated needle threader, which means no poking around trying to thread this beauty - just pull a lever and it’s done.
It comes with five different presser feet. The foot of the sewing machine is an attachment used to hold the fabric flat while you sew. This machine comes with a standard presser foot, a buttonhole foot, a blindhem foot, a zipper foot and clearview foot, which is great for sewing decorative stitches.
An LED Light. A light is an essential on a sewing machine, especially for those not sewing in daylight hours!
This is our studio classic. If you’ve ever been to one of our workshops, this is what you’d have been taught on. It’s classic design means that we always keep them on display and their smaller size means we can fit five of them on our desk at one time. They’re lightweight, reliable and trusty favourite.
Our favourite features:
This is a super intuitive machine and alerts you when the bobbin is running low or your presser foot isn’t down.
You have the option of using a foot pedal or starting and stopping using the Start/Stop button at the front of the machine.
You can adjust the foot pressure on the PFAFF passport 2.0 - this is great when working with thicker fabrics, like our waxed cotton or organic denim or for sewing those bulky bits.
The auto tie-off button automatically ties off the end of a seam for a quick and easy finish.
The Original IDT™ System Integrated Dual Feed only from PFAFF® , which is like an in-built walking foot to make sure your fabrics flow through the machine evenly; this is a total game changer!
We swear by these machines.
These have been so popular they are currently out of stock but we will have more dropping in the new year.
This is a pretty spectacular machine and is particularly good for embroidery and quilting. Its larger size makes it easier to feed through those chunky projects.

Anyone that has used an overlocker knows that they take any sewing project to the next level and present you with a finished garment that looks professional on the inside and out. We use this machine in the studio and it is incredible! Honestly, your sewing project glides through like butter.
Our favourite features:
Just like magic the PFAFF Admire Air 5000 threads itself with air pressure. It’s quite the sight to behold! No more faffing around with overlocking thread.
Auto Tension Dial – You select the desired stitch and thread tension is automatically set.
It’s super easy to change between overlock stitches and coverlock – No needle plate/presser foot change needed
You can adjust it for perfectly even seams, no stretching of the seam or puckering of fine fabrics.
It also has two sewing speeds, which it’s a great addition to an overlocker.
